Michael Rien (Earth Chronicles, Special Ops) Composer and Drummer for Sexsomnia
SEXSOMNIA is a musical project from Montreal (Canada), founded in late October 2021 by Philip Faith (bass guitars, drum programming, keyboards, and vocals) and Pat Gaudette (bass guitars).
Sexsomnia is a complex sleep disorder which inspired multi-instrumentalist, singer, producer Philip Faith (WESTERNDREAM, Rise of the Fallen, Hotel Noir) to create a musical project that combines electrobeats, analog synths, dreamlike soundscapes, female narrative voices and features two live bass guitars.
Pat Gaudette, renowned Montreal bass player (Unruled, Hexapheen, NowFuture) was inspired to take part in the project.
Corrosive basses, pounding dance-floor beats, baritone guitar, melodious bass lines, and dark atmospheres are SEXSOMNIA’s unique sound! The Cure, Giorgio Moroder, Propaganda, Trentemøller, Joy Division, Ladytron, V.A.C, and David Lynch are strong influences. Philip, who has worked with artists such as: Decoded Feedback, Third Realm, Edward Ka-Spel, Oneiroid Psychosis, and Blind Agony, writes, programs and constructs the beats and .soundscapes, forging SEXSOMNIA.
Zoe Page, (International UK fetish actress and model), featured on the Morphine and Sexsomnia videos, lends her unique voice for the project in addition to her superb make-up and stylist skills for the videos. Various female guest vocalists are also featured on the musical project.
Michael Rien (Earth Chronicles, Special Ops) is a driving energy on electronic percussions and synths.
SEXSOMNIA released three videos for the eponymous song “Sexsomnia”, “Catharsis”, and “Morphine”. The first two were controversial and were briefly banned by YouTube. They have since been restored and are on the band’s YouTube channel.
SEXSOMNIA’s first release, “Singles”, out as of August 2022, includes special remixes by Jonh Miller (Project F) and Philip Faith.
SEXSOMNIA’s second release “Morphine”, out as November 2022, includes a special remix by Philip Faith.
