Michael Rien is an accomplished Screen Composer, Drummer, Pianist and Teacher in the music industry. With years of experience, Michael has worked on various projects, and has the passion, talent, training, experience, and drive to get the job done right!

· Performing at the Centre Bell with the Shaar Hashomayim Choir under conductor Roï Azoulay alongside the Montreal Symphony Orchestra (MSO) for the Tower of Song: A memorial tribute to Leonard Cohen  which was organized by Leonard's son, Adam Cohen. Radio and television special, airing on CBC Music on November 7, 2017 and on CBC Television on January 3, 2018

· Working with bassist/songwriter Matt Lipscombe (Me Mom and Morgentaler) and singer/songwriter Leesa Mackey (Tamashi, Bent Buiding Productions) recording analogue keyboard for the song Cherry On Top, produced by Juno Award winning producer Joseph Donovan at Mountain City Studios

· Dave Traina (Freq Shop, The Damn Truth) mixing and mastering my drum set performance covering Neil Young's song Down By The River - Arr. by Tamashi

· Composed music for the Short Film "On the Whims of Valkyries" by Heston L'Abbé, which made the official selection at the International Fantasia Festival 2024. Part of the Souviens-toi que tu vas mourir

· Working with metal producer Jeff Nystrom (Metalworks) producing an album for my band Special Ops with Mastering done at RCA Victor Studios

 

· Singer in the Montreal Jubilation Choir under conductor Dr. Trevor W. Payne

· 20 years of singing in and performing on drum set for concerts with the Men’s Shaar Choir at the Congregation Shaar Hashomayim in Westmount, QC, Canada under conductors Stephen Glass and Roï Azoulay - Performances in New York, Los Angeles, Toronto and Miami

· Drummer under Award-Winning Director Bryna Wasserman - National Yiddish Theatre at the Saidye Bronfman Centre AKA The Segal Centre For Performing Arts and conductor/violinist Alan Iny - Matinee and evening shows in Montreal, Toronto and Miami

· Working as a drummer in a jazz trio on board the Holland America Line Ryndam cruise ship in 2008

​

· Recording soprano singer and Cantor Sharon Azrieli from Montreal, Quebec, who holds degrees from Juilliard School and the University of Montreal

· Co-produced a remix of the song Hellsville by Edward Ka-Spel (The Legendary Pink Dots), done with Philip Faith (Philip Faith Photography, Hotel Noir, Sexsomnia) - Release, Fall 2024

· Recording on drum set with Juno Award winning producer Robert Heaney at Studio Fast Forward Inc. for Mona Lissa Chanda's EP: Tip of My  Tongue.
